Can Rabbits eat Yoghurt?

Yogurt is also known as yoghourt and is produced by the bacterial fermentation of milk.

This bacteria is known as ‘yogurt cultures’ and the fermentation of lactose which is produced by ‘yogurt cultures’ produces lactic acid which acts on milk protein so as to give yogurt its familiar texture and tang.

So can rabbits eat yogurt at all and if they can how much of it can be eaten?

Unfortunately, rabbits cannot eat yogurt at all. As a dairy product, yogurt will make them ill  if they happen to eat it and so it is not advisable to feed it to them.

If they do happen to eat a large amount of yogurt then do seek veterinary advice, if they happen to eat a small amount of it then they should be fine. Just continue to monitor them.
