Animals in Distress – Based in Irlam, Manchester, Animals in Distress was founded in 1967 to alleviate the suffering of sick and injured animals. This is still the main aim today. It is achieved through a number of methods. These include 24 hour rescue, veterinary treatment, neutering and a micro chipping scheme. These practical steps are backed up by education, advice programmes and work experience placements. This work involves strays, abandoned animals, cruelty cases and road traffic accidents and with the new Retirement Home we are able to offer long term care to older animals.

The Destitute Animal Shelter – Based in Bolton, The Destitute Animal Shelter is a rescue charity dedicated to caring for the lost, stray and abandoned dogs and cats of the Bolton area. We have a non-destruction policy and are committed to reducing the unwanted cat and dog problem in this area by neutering every animal that we re-home.

Animal Care – Based in Scotforth, Animal Care has existed in various forms for over 30 years but as a registered charity since 1978. A few local animal lovers started to care for animals in their own homes when no-one else would help them and as the need for help increased so did the need for a permanent site to house the dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep, goats, horses and other animals desperately in need of care and attention.

Bunny Hop Rescue -based in Leigh, Bunny Hop Rescue is a self-funded rescue and relies soley on donations.

RSPCA Bury and Oldham Centre – Based in Oldham,Our animal welfare work covers rehoming, assisted neutering and microchipping and also a mobile welfare veterinary clinic which goes out and about fortnightly offering greatly reduced veterinary assistance to all animal owners in receipt of certain benefits.

RSPCA Preston & District Branch – Based in Ribbleton, Preston, Our main aim is to take in abandoned, neglected or abused animals. We nurse them back to health, rehabilitate and then find them loving, permanent homes.

Millstream Animal Shelter – Based in Manchester, The Shelter is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in the local area but being financially independent means it is entirely reliant upon local support to help fund its work.

Pennine Pen Animal Rescue – Based in Oldham, We take in and give sanctuary to unwanted and abandoned animals

Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary – Based in St Annes, Our aim is to rescue and re-home unwanted, neglected and stray animals. We take in any kind of animal that is in need, from hamsters to horses.

RSPCA Animal Centre Altham – Based in Altham, Accrington, they are part of the national RSPCA network.
